UK suspends flights from Sinai over bomb risk concerns

Prof. Akin Akindoyemi, former Chairman of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), has urged the National Assembly to ensure quick passage of the law to enforce the National Building Code. Akindoyemi made the call on Tuesday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the sideline of the 2015 Builders Congress organised by CORBON. The theme of the congress is "Nigerian Building Industry and the National Economy: Synergies and Opportunities’’. The professor noted that the National Assembly sponsored the bill for the enforcement of the National Building Code six years ago but never actualised it.

The Enugu State Police Command yesterday said it has launched manhunt for one Charles Oyibo for allegedly beating his wife to death. Police spokesman in Enugu State, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST said the police had commenced detailed Investigation on the matter. Amaraizu said the victim “identified as one Angela Oyibo, was beaten to death by the husband, also identified as one Charles Oyibo.”

Egypt ’s civil aviation ministry said on Tuesday there were no facts to substantiate assertions by Russian officials that the Russian airliner that crashed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on Saturday broke up in mid-air. But spokesman Mohamed Rahmi confirmed that no distress call had been received before the crash, which left wreckage from the Metrojet Airbus 321, carrying Russian holidaymakers back to St Petersburg from the Sinai Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, strewn over more than 3 km (2 miles) of desert.

Hassan made the call while parading two suspects and 16 foreigners comprising of three Ghanaians and 13 Togolese, all victims of human trafficking in Lagos at the command’s headquarters Onikan. He said that the suspects and the victims were inside a vehicle preparing to move to Akwa-Ibom from where they would ferry them to Gabon before they were arrested.

CHAN: NFF to meet NPFL clubs on early release of players

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has confirmed they will hold talks with Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs, to ensure players are released early ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda. This comes as U-23 coach, Samson Siasia, is struggling to put together a squad for the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal later this month. The NFF is planning to meet with the clubs, to avoid a repeat of the same scenario before the CHAN tournament early next year.

A human rights group known as the Centre for Human Eights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to prosecute the new Ooni of Ife, Prince Adeyeye Ogunwusi, based on the allegations of forgery.

The Punch reports that Adeniyi Sulaiman, the chairman of the group, wrote a letter to the chairman of the EFCC on Monday, November 2. In a letter, a copy of which was sent to President Muhammadu Buhari, the CHRSJ noted that the allegations were weighty and called for immediate prosecution. Sulaiman stressed that the allegation of forgery, fraudulent conversion and obtaining of N400 million against Prince Ogunwusi and his company should be thoroughly investigated. The group warned the commission that if it failed to begin the prosecution after seven days of receipt of the letter, the CHRSJ would get court injunction to compel the EFCC to prosecute the new Ooni of Ife.
