Biafra: Clergy Women Caution MASSOB, IPOB

Nigerian Women in Clergy has cautioned pro-Biafran groups, Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to suspend their street protests in the interest of peace. The clergy women under the leadership of Prophetess Nonnie Robberson emphasised the importance of dialogue against violent protests that will further lead to deaths and destruction of property in the South-east.

CHAN: Home-based Eagles to Resume Training in December

Nigeria home-based Super Eagles will resume training for next year’s CHAN in Abuja in the first week of December, officials have announced. The 2015 CHAN will be hosted by Rwanda from January 16 and Nigeria have been drawn alongside Niger, Tunisia and Guinea in the group phase of the biennial tournament reserved for players playing in their home leagues. An official informed: “The players will regroup by the first week of next month and will break for Christmas before they reconvene for a training camp overseas.” Dubai and a country close to Rwanda are being considered for this training camp. Buhari Restates Commitment to Transform Economy

President Muhammadu Buhari has restated his commitment to transform the economy and crack down on corruption through whole-scale economic reforms, some of which may be painful. In an opinion article published in The Economist magazine, titled: ‘All Change in Nigeria,’ he equally expressed optimism that Nigeria can follow Singapore’s example of transformation from a third world country to a developed nation. Buhari, who said he was aware that millions of Nigerians were waiting to see signs of economic recovery, said results cannot be delivered overnight, adding that the ingenuity of Nigerians would be instrumental in delivering change.

Excerpts from Tiwa Savage’s detailing interview with Genevieve Magazine has surfaced online. The 35 year old singer shared a little about her painful pregnancy and also said she had pre-eclampsia, a condition which according to Google, in pregnancy characterized by high blood pressure, sometimes with fluid retention and proteinuria. She told the mag, “Well, it’s a condition some women have towards the end of their pregnancy. For me, it was a period where I had high blood pressure, my feet got terribly swollen and I could hardly walk. Plus, my baby was overdue by about 7-8 days! At the end, they decided to induce me to labour because they were worried about my condition. It was a painful ordeal but I thank God everything went well.”

At a stakeholders meeting at the commercial city of Aba the OPS under the aegis of Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA) was specifically urged to play a crucial role to create a sustainable way of tackling unemployment in the state.

Bomb Blast Kills Six Women at IDP Screening Centre

Six women were killed on Sunday during the screening of new intakes of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who fled to Maiduguri, Chairman of Borno State Emergency Agency (SEMA), Mr. Ahmed Satomi, told THISDAY on the phone. Satomi said the incident occurred around Muna garage at about 11 am during the screening of persons who had fled Dikwa area of the state. According to him, people fleeing from Dikwa and its environs were screened at Muna garage, the entry point into Maiduguri from that axis of the state. He said: “Since the IDPs were coming voluntarily into the town, it was decided that they had to be screened at the entrance to the town to prevent the insurgents from mingling with them.
