Information just reaching us from Aba is that the entire Enyimba city is locked down as Banks, Schools and all markets in the city are shut following a mega protest against the continued illegal detention of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The massive crowd numbering possibly over a million are chanting Biafra solidarity songs marching from various directions: Ariaria, Osisioma, Ngwa Road and Ala Ojii. At the moment, the protest is very peaceful and orderly.

The Ogun state government has demolished a church building owned by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Premium Times reports that the demolished RCCG building, which is located right inside Obasanjo Hilltop, along Presidential Boulevard in Abeokuta, was pulled down on Friday, November 6. The RCCG branch which is headed by a former lawmaker in the state, Remmy Hazzan, started in 2013. The church members were meant to start using the ground floor of the uncompleted building by November 8 before the sad demolition.

NYSC Director-General urges corps members to be change agents

The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, on Saturday advised corps members to be change agents of the Federal Government in the communities during their service year. Olawumi made the appeal while addressing the 2015 Batch B Stream 1 corps members at the Lagos State NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja. He said that for government to actualise its change agenda, everybody must embrace value re-orientation.

Fraud Allegation ‘Nobody is a Saint,’ Gabriel Suswam says

The former Governor of Benue state has denied allegations of fraud levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Suswam, speaking at a special thanksgiving service organised for him at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Makurdi, said “The fact is that nobody is a saint, we have serious economic situation. I raised the alarm, they said I was stealing money, my successor is raising same alarm today. Unfortunately, the Tiv man always wants to bring down his own brother, the truth is that as governor, there is no way you cannot step on toes.”

Recent actions by two regulatory agencies have stirred up a lot of dust. On October 20, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) fined MTN Nigeria $5.2 billion or N1.04 trillion for failing to disconnect 5.2 million improperly registered Subscriber Identification Module cards or SIM cards. About a week later, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) slammed Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc with a N1 billion penalty for alleged misstatements in the bank’s 2013 and 2014 financial reports. The FRC, among other rulings, also banned Mr. Atedo Peterside and Mrs. Sola David-Borha, chairman and chief executive officer of the bank respectively, from vouching for the integrity of any financial statements in Nigeria.
