The 2015 FIFA Ballon D'or award took place tonight in Zurich with Lionel Messi emerging as the winner while celebrities from the football and entertainment world attended the showpiece event. Full winners list plus photos from the event after the jump.

Gunmen detonated suicide vests inside a shopping complex in Baghdad on Monday and a car bomb exploded nearby in an attack claimed by Islamic State that killed at least 18 people and wounded 40 others. Two bombs later went off in the eastern town of Muqdadiya, killing at least 23 people and wounding another 51, security and medical sources said. Another blast in a southeastern Baghdad suburb killed seven more. Islamic State militants controlling swathes of Iraq's north and west claimed responsibility for the attacks in Muqdadiya and at the Baghdad mall, which it said had targeted a gathering of "rejectionists", its derogatory term for Shi'ite Muslims.

 An Ethiopian woman, Jinat Farid was found guilty of killing Ghalia Eida al-Harithi by striking her repeatedly with an axe as the victim knelt to perform Muslim prayers, the ministry said in a statement carried by state news agency, SPA. After killing Harithi, Farid stole two gold rings and an unspecified amount of money, the ministry said. She was executed in the western city of Taif. The ministry did not specify any connection between the culprit and the victim, but the kingdom hosts large numbers of domestic workers that come from African and South Asian countries.

According to various reports, the two women started hurling insults at each other over a man and before anyone could say jack, a fight ensued. The incident happened over the the weekend during a Football tournament at the Ziwani Ground, Nairobi.

A police Corporal, Sunday David, attached to the Special Anti- Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikorodu, Lagos State Police Command, was Sunday, found dead with his brain allegedly blown out in his Camry car at the Agege area of the state.According to New Telegraph, the policeman was shot just as he was trying to rescue a cyber-crime fraudster from some angry youths on Amoo Street. Apart from the policeman’s corpse, three other bodies were seen at the scene. One of them is said to be the body of the fraudster, Obey, whom David tried to rescue. The other two bodies reports allege were those of Sulaimon and Segun, youths residing at Agege, where the shooting took place. Following David’s death, police authorities were said to have searched the car and his service pistol was found on his waist band and one AK47 rifle, fully loaded with ammunition, was also discovered inside his car boot. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, had warned that no SARS operative should...

When Kole  invited Bunmi  out (as usual) on the noon of the first Sunday in November,2013, little did she know he had a plan.  She knew he was travelling out of the town the next day and the last time  Bunmi  checked, he had gone home to pack. She had kept rolling her eyes wondering what the outing was gonna be about this time and concluded smiling that the young man was missing her already and wanted them to spend some more time together. It had been five years of the relationship and been eventful with lots of hangouts and hookups and this time; the son of the current Oba  of Akure had taken Bunmi (another Blue Blood) to one of their favourite hang out spots. They in fact had over the years selected a favourite space to sit at the spot.... but this time, Kole  wouldn't allow them sit there. They have to switch to somewhere else he had said....

Wife of Super Eagles midfielder Fegor Ogude, Memunat, has regained her freedom from kidnappers.Memunat was abducted from her family home in Warri, Delta State a few days ago. However, on Sunday night, Media Officer of Nigeria’s U-23 team, Timi Ebikagboro confirmed that she was now a free woman. “To God be the glory, the wife of SE player Fegor Ogude, Memunat, has been released, she was released minutes ago, and is now with her family,” Ebikagboro tweeted. It is not certain if the Amkar Perm player or any of his relative, paid any ransom to secure her release.

The date was 27 November 2015 and here I was among a Nigerian delegation sponsored by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the international cooperation agency of the Korean government similar in function to the DFID (British) and USAID (American), to undertake a study tour of Korea for two weeks. The trip was made up of 34 participants scheduled to attend two courses: the first course was on eSecurity comprising 22 participants and the second was on Project Management in eGovernance comprising 12 participants.
