Burundi massacre: 87 civilians killed during clash with military

Image
At least 87 bodies were found in Burundi's capital Bujumbura  on Saturday Dec. 12th , a day after the government said an unidentified group carried out coordinated attacks on three military installations. The violence is linked to President Pierre Nkurunziza's third term in office, which many Burundians and foreign observers had opposed as unconstitutional and in violation of a peace accord. The treaty ended a civil war in which 300,000 people were killed between 1993 and 2006. "The final toll of the attacks yesterday is 79 enemies killed, 45 captured and 97 weapons seized, and on our side eight soldiers and policemen were killed and 21 wounded," Colonel Barataria, Burundi Army spokesman was quoted as saying by the AFP news agency.

Bakassi, Biafra, and Boko Haram: The International Linkage and Implication

Image
The domestic linkage between and among Bakassi, Biafra, and Boko Haram is the uncertainty over Nigeria’s future, created by the three of them and that is hardly reflected on by policy makers and the Nigerian elite. In contemporary international relations, observers are always quick to note that since the end of World War II in 1945, there has been no new World War. They quickly admit that the world is only witnessing pockets of internal conflicts in some countries. This observation cannot be disputed. However, the new truth is that efforts have not been made to explain why the internal conflicts are on the increase and why the making of a new  World War cannot be a resultant from centripetal factors and methodology.
