In Adamawa Agency confirms 17 dead, 41 injured in Madagali suicide attacks

  Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), has confirmed the death of 17 persons in Monday’s twin suicide bomb attack in Madagali town. The Executive Secretary of ADSEMA, Mallam Haruna Furo , who made the confirmation, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Yola that 41 people sustained injuries. He said that the injured were tuaken to hospitals in Mubi and Yola . NAN reports that two female suicide bombers on Monday blew themselves up in a open air market located in a motor park in Madagali.

Xmas tragedy: Son kills father in Enugu

The sleepy town of Imilike-Agu in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State was, weekend, thrown into mourning following the killing of a 60-year-old Paulinus Ugwuoke, during a heated altercation with his son, Anselem Ugwuoke. This came as no fewer than four person, including a bus driver, a passenger and two children were confirmed dead while scores also sustained varying degrees of injuries in a head-on collision involving two commuter buses which took place on Christmas Day at about 3pm along Enugu-Onitsha expressway by Water Works, Umumba, Ezeagu, Enugu State.  

CBN now to allocate forex to end users

A BUJA —The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, is now to allocate foreign exchange to end-users, with priority given to matured Letters of Credit, importation of petroleum products, raw materials and machinery. This is in a bid to effectively manage the nation’s depleted foreign reserves. This came as Nigeria’s foreign trade report for imports and exports during the third quarter of 2015 has shown an unprecedented decline reflecting the level of stress the economy has witnessed since this year.

No slip ups against Chelsea, van Gaal tells Man U

Louis van Gaal has challenged his Manchester United players to play “our football” against Chelsea tonight as he fights to save his job. Following the 2-0 defeat to Stoke on Boxing Day, United have lost four consecutive games in all competitions and have not won in seven, and Van Gaal suggested after the game that he could quit. Today’s meeting with Guus Hiddink’s Chelsea could prove decisive and the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss said he wants to see bravery from his players as they look to return to winning ways.

Buhari urged to extend anti-graft crusade to past leaders

ANGLICAN Bishop of Western Izon Diocese,Delta State, Rt. Rev. Edafe Emamezi, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the anti- graft crusade in the country to all corrupt past political office holders that are alive for it to yield the desired result. Speaking in his homily, yesterday  at the diocesan headquarters in Patani, Patani Local Government Area, Delta State, the cleric stressed the need for Nigerians to support the anti-corruption crusade. He, however, said that the campaign should cover all corrupt politicians who are still alive.

2015: Events that shaped maritime industry

2 015 will go down as the toughest year in  the maritime industry when compared to previous years. This was as a result of the general election that was held mid year, and the emergence of a new government by the opposition party. By the end of the 2014, the focus of the previous administration, and indeed major players in different sectors of the economy shifted attention to the election. After the hand-over, there was delay, a resultant effect of the government’s inability to appoint ministers and as a result, operators could not work as there was no economic policy direction.
