Yahaya Bello Unfolds Development Agenda for Kogi

The Kogi State governor-elect, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has unfolded the development agenda of his government promising to give the state a new economic beginning. Bello has identified agriculture, education, health, tourism and human capital development as major sectors that would be used to drive the economy, promising that there must be a positive change in the state for the benefit of the people of the state.

Violence in Kogi over Impeachment of Speaker

It was yet another unforgettable day in Kogi State on Thursday as the move to impeach the Speaker, Hon. Momoh Lawal and replace him with Hon. Godwin Osiyi from Ogori Mango state constituency turned violent when dangerous weapons were used freely within the vicinity of the assembly, leaving no fewer than five members and some policemen seriously injured in the fracas. Trouble started around noon when the member representing Idah constituency, Hon. Ukwubile Ochijenu, moved a motion on urgent public importance and while reading the list of members who had signed for the removal of the speaker, his deputy and minority leader, resulted in a rowdy session in the assembly.

Appeal Court Upholds Umahi’s Election

The appeal court sitting in Enugu on Friday upheld the victory of Ebonyi state governor, David Umahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the April 11 governorship election in the state. The state governorship election tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party candidate, Chief Edward Nkwegu, challenging Umahi’s declaration for lacking in merit.

PDP: Military Should Face Boko Haram, Not Rig Election for APC
