Mr. Dasuki’s arrest comes just after he met the conditions of bail set by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The former NSA is at the center of an ever-expanding scandal involving the illegal diversion of billions of dollars during his tenure as NSA, much of which is now understood to have aided the presidential campaign of Goodluck Jonathan.  The stolen money, some of which was authorized by the former Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, was intended to purchase weapons to support the military’s fight against Boko Haram.

  The National Orientation Agency (NOA) says a return to the communal living for which the Nigerian society is known will enable everyone know his neighbour better and identify suspicious characters in the community thereby aiding security agencies to close the security gaps in the country.   Director General of NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri took this position at a one-day sensitization programme tagged “Do the Right Thing: Close the Security Gaps in Our Country”, organized by the Agency in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that road crashes across the country were reduced by 33 per cent during the Christmas period. This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Bisi Kazeem, Head, Media Relations and Strategy of the corps and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja. Kazeem said that the reduction was a “testimony to the robust efforts’’ of the FRSC to stem crashes on the nation’s roads during the festive period The corps spokesman, however disclosed that the corps recorded 113 road traffic crashes within one week of patrol across the country.

Arsenal goalkeeper Peter Cech has revealed the reason why he left Chelsea last summer to join their London rivals.  The 33-year old spent several years at Chelsea but chose to leave the club and join Arsenal. The Czech keeper has now revealed that his belief in the club's ability to win the Premier League made him join Arsenal.  “It was not an easy decision but I always wanted to go to a team which could win ," Cech said. “ If I didn’t believe that I was going to a team which could win then I don’t know why I would come . “ I play football, not to only enjoy it and I love the challenge of playing and competing with the best players, but I want to have the chance to win games .

A baby who was born inside the toilet of a train in India slipped through the toilet bowl and fell on rail tracks miraculously survived on Monday, December 28. According to a statement made on Wednesday by a Police officer, Anil Sirohi in New Delhi, the 23-year-old pregnant woman went into labour while she was travelling on the train in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. She then went into one of the toilets where she delivered a baby girl. The newborn slipped out and fell unto the rail tracks.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the ‘new’ pump prices of petrol as announced Tuesday by the Federal Government as a continuation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government by deception. The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh on Wednesday said beside its deceptive element, the reduction in the N87 per litre pump price to N86 and N86.50 per litre for the retail outlets of the NNPC and retail outlets of private business concerns respectively offered too little to cheer.

The federal government yesterday reduced the pump price of petrol from N87 to N86.50k per litre with effect from January 1st. In a statement signed by the‎ executive secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Farouk Ahmed in Abuja, FG said that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) retail stations will sell at N86 per litre, while retail outlets owned by oil marketers will sell at N86.50k per litre. ‎
