Real Madrid remains highest-earning club for 11th year

New figures made public on Thursday by accountancy firm, Deloitte, have revealed that Real Madrid are still the biggest earners in football.Los Blancos did not win any trophy last season, but they raked in a revenue of 577 million ($628m) in the 2014/2015 season to keep them top for the 11th straight year. “The planned redevelopment of the Santiago Bernabeu will help to continue the growth in matchday income in the coming years,” Dan Jones, a partner in the Deloitte sports business division, said.

Abandoned Baby was found in biscuit carton dead in Uyo

The incident threw residents into shock and grief as the baby girl, dressed and abandoned near a bank, died after hours of supposedly battling for survival. According to reports, the unidentified baby became pale after a long period of crying, before passing out. A resident of the area, Mr. Okon Isaac, in a bid to buy fuel at a fuel station along Ikot Ekpene Road, said he heard the cry of a baby near the refuse bin, dressed neatly and dumped in the biscuit carton.

A man raped his three-year-old daughter— 32 —year - old Father

A 32-year-old man, who only gave his name as Mustapha, has been arrested by the Plateau State Police Command for allegedly raping his three-year-old daughter, Iqma (pseudonym).It was gathered that the incident happened on January 12 in the Katako area of the state while the victim’s mother was cooking in a makeshift kitchen within their compound.

Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has said Nigeria cannot fight Lassa fever with the same method it used to fight Ebola.Adewole, in an interactive session with journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, gave reasons why the Federal Government cannot deploy the same method it used to fight and win the battle against Ebola virus in the battle against Lassa fever.

Dangote, Bill Gates team up against malnutrition in Nigeria

Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote and tech billionaire Bill Gates on Thursday announced plans for a $100-million scheme to cut malnutrition in the continent’s most populous nation, Nigeria. Dangote said the partnership between his Dangote Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation would address the problem, which affects some 11 million children in northern Nigeria.

Not guilty to Felony Charge IPOB Leader: Kanu pleads

The Federal Government, yesterday, docked the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on a six-count criminal charge bordering on treasonable felony. This came just as the Rivers State Police Command arraigned ten pro-Biafra protesters in Port-Harcourt. Kanu was arraigned alongside two other pro-Biafra agitators, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi. The trio took turns and pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was  signed by the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, Mr. Mohammed Diri. In the charge, the Federal Government alleged that the accused persons committed treasonable felony by spear-heading an illegal agitation for the seccession of ‘Biafra Republic’ from Nigeria, an offence punishable under Section 41(C) of the Criminal Code Act, CAP C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.
