The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the shutdown was due to a protest embarked upon by a group known as the Indigenous People of Biafra . Port Harcourt is Nigeria 's oil capital. The protesters had said they were protesting the arrest and detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by the Federal Government.

A 20-year old secondary school leaver identified as Isichei Paul was Tuesday, murdered at Okwe quarters in Asaba, Delta State, by suspected cultists who had been on rampage in the area. It was gathered that Paul was killed during a misunderstanding among the suspected cultists. The argument reportedly degenerated and one of the suspected cultists allegedly shot Paul at a close range.

A London bus driver has been suspended after he was filmed masturbating at the top deck of his bus. Footage shows the driver naked from the waist down, leaning between two seats at the top of the parked vehicle in a depot. Mohamud Mohamud, 38, and his brother Hazma, 26, were standing outside their home smoking a cigarette when the situation unfolded at 12pm on Saturday. The driver of the 123 bus route to Ilford, north London, was stood right by the steamy window that faces onto the road.
