CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele Obinna Chima As part of efforts to encourage entrepreneurial ventures and new businesses in the country, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reviewed the guidelines for its N220 billion micro, small, and medium scale enterprises development fund (MSMEDF). Part of the 23-page new revised guidelines that was posted on the central bank's website yesterday stated that incentives would be given to start-ups that apply for the fund. It also stated that participating financial institutions (PFIs) are expected to accept charges on fixed and floating assets of the financed projects as collateral for start-ups.

Winners have emerged in maiden edition of Access Bank 'W' awards, which was created to honour  Nigerian  women who have done exceptionally well in their different fields and contributed to the development of the nation. At a ceremony to mark the climax of the Access Leadership Conference 2015, held in Lagos recently, the bank recognised women who emerged winners under the four categories of the awards. Taraba Governorship: Appeal Court reserves judgment on Ishaku’s election

The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday reserved judgment in an appeal filed by Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba against the nullification of his electoral victory by a tribunal. Justice Abdul Aboki said the court would later announce the date for the judgment in the appeal. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the appeal by Ishaku followed the judgment of the Taraba Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Nov. 7 and awarded victory to Mrs Aisha Alhassan of APC.

N1.4trn fine: FG calls MTN’s bluff, says Dec 31 deadline subsists

 The Federal Government, yesterday, said it would neither be cowed nor threatened by MTN’s court action against the N1.4trn fine which was later reduced to N780 billion, insisting that the telecommunications company risks another fine if it fails to pay on deadline. Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu, made the statement yesterday in reaction to the suit instituted by the telecom operator at a Lagos High Court, weekend.
