SuperSport to Partner Federal Ministry of Sports

SuperSport Africa is to partner the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports to promote grassroots sports in the country.

The Head of SuperSport Africa, Andre Venter, made the remark when he paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung.

On the occasion, Andre who was accompanied by SuperSport’s General Manager, Strategies, West Africa, Felix Awogu, said there was need to key into the vision of the new sports minister to empower youths through sports.


“We will want to get young people to play sports, not just to compete but to stay fit and healthy.

Speaking on the occasion, Awogu emphasised the readiness of SuperSport to work together with the minister to bring about the much needed change in the sports sector.
“As sponsors of the national team, the Super Eagles and the Nigerian football Premier League, SuperSport will want to understudy whatever vision the minister has for sports and see how we can support that vision.”

Responding, Dalung said his major assignment was to sanitize the sports industry in order to make it more attractive to investors.

According to the minister, “any company putting funds on sports development in Nigeria must get valued satisfaction for their investment in sports. Other countries do not depend on government for funding, so we will understudy the success stories of other countries to find out how they succeeded in generating and managing their funds and resources.”
Dalung also promised to win back the confidence of investors was lost due to corruption in the sector and ensure that sports in the country become self-sustaining.
