Welcome the King’s Scholarship

Very few chose to take on a tough challenge like sailing on rough waters. However, a project must be filled with inherent tests to attract the kind of bravery which Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo of the Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) brings to the job. Not one to beat a quick retreat at the sign of unwavering barriers; the KICC helmsman, who is passionate about producing a new generation of leaders out of Africa, knows how to roll up his sleeves and go to work.

Convinced that only a methodic and calculated impartation of knowledge to the younger generation of Africans through qualitative academic activities can bring about the desired result, Ashimolowo started long ago to invest in the education of brilliant young Africans wherever they can be found. Not too long ago, he was moved by the pitiable story of a Caddie (one who assists golfers to carry their bag on the golf course) who had a good O’level result, passed JAMB well, but fell short of the requirement of the university of her choice. For five years, this unfortunate circumstance was her lot.

Her condition turned around for good as the KICC helmsman who is an avid golfer took an interest in her case. He took up payment for her tuition and other incidentals which add up to 5000 Dollars in one of the leading university universities in an English-speaking West African country. She is one of tens of young, brilliant Africans whose flagging hope for education was revamped with a compassionate masterstroke from Ashimolowo. This gesture of kindness has since been pooled under a structured intervention known as the Mathew Ashimolowo Scholarship Scheme (MASS).

As the King’s University in Ode Omu, Osun State, Ashimolowo’s homestead is set to commence academic activities, the world famous pastor is set to demonstrate a deeper sense of benevolence. Out of the 300 pioneer students, 120 have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enjoy full scholarship which is jointly offered by the KICC and the MASS. However, a student on scholarship is required to retain top performance to continue enjoying this generosity.
