The Manchester United captain lays the smackdown on the WWE wrestler after being bad-mouthed on stage
Wayne Rooney thrilled fans at the Manchester Evening Arena on Monday night with an entertaining cameo on Monday Night Raw.
The Manchester United forward was in attendance at the event with son
Kai, 6, when he was addressed by the Lancashire-born wrestler, Wade
Barrett.
"In this ring are two men who can be described as having championship material," said Barrett.
"Which is more than can be said for Wayne Rooney and Manchester United."
When Barrett continued to bad-mouth Rooney, the pair stood face-to-to-face before Rooney slapped the Preston North End fan to the ground.
Rooney later posed for photos backstage at the event with Manchester United's assistant coach, Ryan Giggs, and former United midfielder, Darren Fletcher.
