President set to probe leakages in education sector
The Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu,
speaking on behalf of the President at a convocation ceremony in the
University of Ibadan said this administration is working hard to block
leakages.
According to Punch Newspapers, Adamu said “The
Federal Ministry of Education is all ears to ensure that wastage and
leakages are blocked and perpetrators are brought to book.”
He
also added that the President has specifically issued a warning to
those in charge of disbursing and handling funds meant for the upkeep of
tertiary institutions in the country.
The minister said President Buhari will not hesitate to bring them to book if they are found guilty.
'we will not fold it’s arms and watch unscrupulous elements mismanage these very valuable resources,' Adamu said.
He added that “that his administration was working hard to change the fortunes of government universities in the country.”
The occasion was also the installation of Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, as the ninth Chancellor of the University of Benin, Edo State.
